Alpacas for Sale Our Cabin, your residential retreat for a week

We are so lucky here to have our own slice of heaven, the good life.

We would love to share that with you. If you want, we can tell you how you might do it too.

We moved here around ten years ago when all we had were two fields and a barn. Since then we have built up our small agricultural business, obtained planning permission to build in open country, and built our own house, using our own hands. We have sorted out a water supply from a spring fed stream and deal with our own waste water.

For part of that time, we lived together in a small log cabin. It is that cabin that we can now offer as a self catering holiday let. Linked to that is the chance to meet, feed and walk our alpacas, and our hens. If you are planning on making your own life on a small-holding, we would be thrilled to talk to you about our experiences.

You can experience life on a smallholding as much or as little as you like. If you simply wish to look at the alpacas over the fence, then spend the day at the beach, we are about 45 minutes from either the north coast (Bude, Widemouth Bay, Padstow) or from the south coast (Looe, Polperro, Whitsand Bay). We are also centrally placed for both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. Or you can help with shearing, birthings and matings, fence building and so on. We can also talk you through (maybe over a barbeque) how we got our planning permission, the steps you might need to take, how to avoid the many pitfalls.

The cabin where you stay comprises a kitchen/living room and a double bedroom with an en-suite showroom and w.c. We provide electricity, pots and pans, crockery, bedding etc. There is an electric cooker, washing machine, fridge with ice-box, iron and ironing board, and tv. There is a fair 4G connection, but I don’t think the wi-fi connection in our house will reach the cabin.

We are open for letting, 7 day lettings Saturday to Saturday, from May 2021 until September 2021.

Special events here at the farm are -

Shearing, we shear about two animals a day most days through May into early June. Not rainy days. We can always do with a volunteer or two.

Birthing, baby alpacas or cria, are due to be born here throughout July. Birthing dates are very unpredictable and we can never be sure exactly when the cria will arrive. They can be weeks early or late. They do tend to be born late in the morning or early afternoon, and they will be born in the field right outside the front door of the cabin.

Routine animal tasks, vaccinations, toenails, condition inspections etc can be fitted in around what you would like to see.

Daily tasks include attending the hens and collecting the eggs, feeding the alpacas with mineral and vitamin supplements, etc. You are welcome to join in, or do your own thing

Other tasks you may want to be involved in include fencing, veg growing, firewood harvesting, water system maintenance.

Strictly no dogs.
